What to expect when we start
- A free 15-minute callWe’ll talk briefly about what’s bringing you in and make sure we’re a good fit. There’s no pressure to continue.
- Your first session (50 minutes)We’ll go over consent and confidentiality, then you tell me your story at your own pace. I’ll ask questions to understand your history and goals.
- Creating a plan togetherWithin the first few sessions we’ll agree on goals and how we’ll know things are improving.
- Ongoing weekly sessionsWe meet by secure video, usually weekly. You can adjust the pace or pause at any time.
Common questions
What does it mean that you’re an “associate”?
In California, an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor has completed a master’s degree and is gaining the supervised experience required for full licensure. I’m registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, and a licensed supervisor oversees my work. My supervisor’s name and license number are listed below.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes, with a few legal exceptions: risk of serious harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse of a child, elder or dependent adult, or a court order. Because I’m supervised, I may discuss my cases with my supervisor, without identifying details where possible. We’ll go over this in detail before we begin.
How do video sessions work?
You’ll get a private link by email. You can join from a phone, tablet, or computer. You’ll need a quiet, private space and a California location during the session.
How long will I be in therapy?
It depends on your goals. Some people feel better in 8 to 12 sessions; others prefer longer-term support. We’ll check in regularly about how it’s going.
What if I need to cancel?
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations may be charged the full session fee, though I’ll always be understanding about emergencies.
